Astria Oracle Outdoor Open-Hearth Wood-Burning Fireplace

Oracle Series Outdoor Fireplaces by Astria

When authenticity matters and only a true masonry look will do, the Oracle Series Outdoor Fireplace delivers unmatched presence, performance, and craftsmanship. Designed to anchor refined outdoor living spaces, the Oracle Series brings the timeless beauty of a traditional brick-to-face fireplace without visible compromises — no exposed smoke shelf, no shortcuts, just pure architectural elegance.

The fully insulated firebox and massive smoke dome are engineered for reliable operation and enhanced performance, even in cooler climates. Customization is at the heart of the Oracle experience, with a choice of Mosaic Masonry™ kiln-fired firebrick liners or Estate poured refractory panels, available in designer colors and striking stacked or herringbone patterns. The result is a fireplace that feels truly built-in, intentional, and enduring.

Finished with durable 304 stainless steel on all exposed surfaces, the Oracle Series is built to withstand the elements while maintaining its refined appearance year after year. Whether enjoyed as a traditional wood-burning hearth or paired with optional gas logs for added convenience, the Oracle transforms your outdoor space into a destination — elevated, inviting, and unmistakably Back Home.

Clearances

• 1-1/2 in from the firebox to combustibles at the back and sides (not needed at the nailing flanges).
• 0 in to the floor and 0 in at the top spacers. On carpet, tile, or any non-wood combustible floor, set it on a metal or wood panel the full width and depth of the unit.
• 42 in from the firebox to the ceiling.
• 48 in to furniture, curtains, and anything flammable in front.
• Perpendicular wall to the opening: 12 in on the 36 in, 18 in on the 42 in and 50 in.
• 2 in from the chimney outer pipe to combustibles.
• Mantel: no combustible trim within 12 in (36) or 18 in (42 and 50) of the opening. Combustibles sticking out more than 1-1/2 in must be at least 15 in (36) or 21 in (42 and 50) above the opening.
• Don't pack the required air spaces with insulation.

Hearth and framing

• Hearth extension: noncombustible, at least 20 in in front of the opening and 12 in past each side.
• An ember protector is required between the hearth extension and the bottom front edge of the fireplace. It's provided: galvanized sheet metal, at least 28 gauge, reaching 1-1/2 in under the unit.
• Flat wall framing: 61 / 65 / 71 in wide and 86-1/2 / 92 / 100 in tall (36 / 42 / 50). Frame with 2x4 or heavier, and shim the unit square and plumb so the doors line up.
• Outdoor enclosure: build in drainage and fresh air ventilation. A sealed, corrosion-resistant catch pan with a drain under the unit is recommended.
• Optional outside air kits: AK4 (floor) and AK4F (sidewall). Two are recommended. A cold air kit (CAK-12) is recommended in cold climates.

Chimney

• Double-wall, snap-lock stainless 12 in chimney (IHP 12DM). Pipe, support, offsets, termination, flashing, firestop, and storm collar are all sold separately.
• Outdoor installs: at least 9-1/2 ft total height with at least 4 ft of chimney pipe.
• Through a roof: 16 ft minimum with a straight run or one elbow set, 22 ft minimum with two elbow sets, 50 ft maximum. The termination must clear the roof by at least 3 ft and sit 2 ft above anything within 10 ft.
• Vertical pipe held only by the fireplace can't be taller than 20 ft. Taller runs need extra support.
• Check local code with your installer before you order chimney parts.

Gas logs and safety

• Gas line: 1/2 in black iron pipe, connected by a qualified service person. With a vented gas log, lock the damper fully open and keep the glass doors open. Never run an unvented log set with the chimney removed.
• Burn only seasoned wood or fire logs made for fireplaces. No treated wood, trash, charcoal, coal, or gasoline.
• Glass doors must be fully open or fully closed while burning. Mortar and grout need 72 hours to cure before the first fire.
• Have the chimney inspected at least twice a year and cleaned if creosote reaches 1/8 in. Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
